Environmental Committee

Beautifies campus and supports outdoor learning — gardens, sensory plantings, and hands-on student gardening.

Board VP · Jaime Jacobs

Teaching kids to care about the outside of our school is just as important as the inside. The Environmental Committee was established not only to beautify Level Creek but also to serve as an outdoor learning area.

Sensory garden

Students see, touch, smell, hear (the chimes), and taste (vegetables and herbs) throughout the year. Volunteer gardeners keep the beds growing — we always need help.

Student gardening

Gardens sit beside a main play set (and a water source). Each season the committee works with grade-level leads on what to plant. Students can plant at recess, watch things grow, and harvest. Teachers often take produce back to class for students to taste.

In spring 2019, Girl Scout Troop #3315 (then LCE 5th graders) rebuilt our gardens.
